This is the second book in the Throne of Glass series if you have not read the first one I highly suggest you do before you continue on with my review. Spoiler alert has been made.

Oh, Sarah J Maas, you have a way with reeling in your readers and giving them this beautiful, magical world. Full of badass females, terrible demons and Chaol.. um I mean hot guys.. yes that. As you can tell I am team Chaol all the way. I can honestly say that it irks me when Dorian and Celenea are alone, I am waiting for that slip up that will make me go "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO WHAT ABOUT CHAOL!" Gladly it has not happened yet.

Sadly this book didn't have the starting punch that the first book did which did cause me to put it down a couple times, but about half way through the book I was hooked. I feel like this book we got to see the raw emotion from Celenea that causes her to be such an amazing assassin because this time she was fighting for things she loved, and not because she was being forced to. Meeting people from her past and learning new things that is slowly putting the whole story together was great. I love that even though Celenea is this bad ass assassin that you don't want to mess with, she isn't someone who just gets everything right the first time. She has to figure things out, work her way through her problems, nothing is handed to her like most main characters. The heartache that she felt, I felt. I loved Nehemia, and I loved Chaol and her together, to have both those ripped away on the same page was heartwrenching. 

This book left off after finding out some important and gasptacular information. The last three sentences of the book were mind-blowing and totally have me yearning to get my hands on the third one (which I am still waiting to arrive) but I know as soon as it is here I will be devouring it and be ready in time for the fourth books release. 

Sarah J Maas just has this way with words to create this amazing world around you with interesting characters with so many secrets and interesting backgrounds that you just can't put the book down. You need to know the information.

This was an amazing addition to the series and gladly didn't suffer from second book syndrome. I applaud your work Sarah, you did well.
