FIRST - Has anyone else seen the cover for Pierce Brown's third book in the Red Rising trilogy? How beautiful is this!

I can't wait for this book to be released!

----------------------------------------------

At the beginning of this year I finished up book two and three for the Maze Runner series and I figured I would do a post on them. I have done a post already on the first book which I absolutely loved, you can check that one out if you liked. HERE
But lets take a look at book two and three!

Book two is The Scorch Trials by James Dashner
"Thomas was sure that escape from the Maze would mean freedom for him and the Gladers. But WICKED isn’t done yet. Phase Two has just begun. The Scorch. There are no rules. There is no help. You either make it or you die. The Gladers have two weeks to cross through the Scorch—the most burned-out section of the world. And WICKED has made sure to adjust the variables and stack the odds against them. Friendships will be tested. Loyalties will be broken. All bets are off. There are others now. Their survival depends on the Gladers’ destruction—and they’re determined to survive. " - goodreads.com

Book Three is The Death Cure by James Dashner
"It’s the end of the line. WICKED has taken everything from Thomas: his life, his memories, and now his only friends—the Gladers. But it’s finally over. The trials are complete, after one final test. Will anyone survive? What WICKED doesn’t know is that Thomas remembers far more than they think. And it’s enough to prove that he can’t believe a word of what they say. The truth will be terrifying. Thomas beat the Maze. He survived the Scorch. He’ll risk anything to save his friends. But the truth might be what ends it all. The time for lies is over. " - goodreads.com

Now I had some high hopes going into these two books because the first book was so incredible. [the movie did not live up to the book!] I was unfortunately very disappointed. Both these book are worth only 1 to 2 stars out of five. It dragged on a lot, with very noticeable filler. To be honest James Dashner could have made this into a stand-alone book rather then a trilogy, that is how much filler was in these books. I feel that sometimes when the first book in a series is so good that publishers push the authors to pump out the next books for more money and doesn't give the author enough time to put some real thought, drama and detail into the books. This is exactly how I felt about book three in the Hunger Games series.

With all that said I highly suggest that you read the first book in the Maze Runner series, and stop there. The second and third books don't explain anything and are a waste of time sadly.
