Summary:
Every dawn brings horror to a different family in a land ruled by a killer. Khalid, the eighteen-year-old Caliph of Khorasan, takes a new bride each night only to have her executed at sunrise. So it is a suspicious surprise when sixteen-year-old Shahrzad volunteers to marry Khalid. But she does so with a clever plan to stay alive and exact revenge on the Caliph for the murder of her best friend and countless other girls. Shazi's wit and will, indeed, get her through to the dawn that no others have seen, but with a catch . . . she’s falling in love with the very boy who killed her dearest friend.
She discovers that the murderous boy-king is not all that he seems and neither are the deaths of so many girls. Shazi is determined to uncover the reason for the murders and to break the cycle once and for all.

My Review
I live in North Carolina (Go Heels!) with my husband Victor and our dog Mushu. My YA fantasy novel, THE WRATH AND THE DAWN, is available wherever books are sold. In my spare time, I like to cook, dance salsa, and wreak havoc on the lives of my characters.
I’m also a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, as well as an active member of the Science Fiction & Fantasy Writers of America.
The questions below were selected at random, by a garden gnome:
1.) If you could choose to stay a certain age forever, what age would it be?
Whatever age I looked the best. Jury’s still out on that.
2.) If you could give the world one piece of advice, what would it be?
Well, this question presumes a measure of arrogance I hope I never achieve. If “the world” ever asks what I think, I’d say to persist. Always, persist.
3.) What is one of your favorite quotes?
“Clouds come floating into my life, no longer to carry rain or usher storm, but to add color to my sunset sky.” ~ Rabindranath Tagore
4.) If you could have a room full of any one thing, what would it be?
The most delicious food from all over the world. Seriously. I travel to eat. One of these days, it’s going to catch up with me, and I’ll be as big as a house. It may seem shortsighted to you, but I swear, I would be much happier than the jackass with a roomful of gold.
5.) What is your favorite form of exercise?
Ugh
6.) What’s the #1 most played song on your iPod?
Probably “The Only Moment We Were Alone” by the band Explosions in the Sky.
7.) What’s your least favorite mode of transportation?
Alpaca. Definitely alpaca.
8.) If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
Duh. Fly.
9.) What sound do you love?
The sound of a loved one’s laughter.
10.) What do you want to be when you grow up?
Pretty sure this is it. :-)
Sounds interesting and different, definitely going to check it out. Thanks for the great review Karleigh.
