THE HEIR

The Heir (The selection #4)
by Kiera Cass
Released May 5th 2015
Goodreads Summary
Princess Eadlyn has grown up hearing endless stories about how her mother and father met. Twenty years ago, America Singer entered the Selection and won the heart of Prince Maxon—and they lived happily ever after. Eadlyn has always found their fairy-tale story romantic, but she has no interest in trying to repeat it. If it were up to her, she'd put off marriage for as long as possible.
But a princess's life is never entirely her own, and Eadlyn can't escape her very own Selection—no matter how fervently she protests.
Eadlyn doesn't expect her story to end in romance. But as the competition begins, one entry may just capture Eadlyn's heart, showing her all the possibilities that lie in front of her . . . and proving that finding her own happily ever after isn't as impossible as she's always thought.

This is the fourth book in a series, if you have not read the first three I suggest you don't read my thoughts on this one.

I WAS going to do a video review for this on my youtube channel, and I did record one, but I feel like I didn't put everything in that I wanted to say. It is so much easier to get your thoughts out when you are able to go back, edit and add things that you want in there. So I decided to just write it out.

I am ending this book with a rating of 3.5, it honestly doesn't deserve anything more than that. I finished it with a feeling of.. ok what just happened, did I enjoy this? Who the crap would write a main character like that, did Celeste raise this child?

I hated Eadlyn's personality, even as the book progressed she didn't get any better, she was so bratty and self-centered. And she has a huge entitlement issue. I understand that she is to become the next Queen, but Maxon was the next King and he didn't act so ridiculous. With Maxon and America as parents, you'd think she wouldn't be like that. I couldn't believe it. 2% into the book and I was already over her. I just couldn't believe how much she felt she was owed, and how everyone should love her and how terribly she talked about other people that were around her.

I love that Marlee and her husband had children, and it was very sad that Lucy and Aspen couldn't have kids :(

And that ending, leaving it on a major cliffhanger, and we have how long to wait for the next one?

I hate to say how disappointed I am with this book, but I am. I know a lot of people are going to rate it higher because of the other books in this series, but I am being honest here. I am seriously disappointed with the direction that Keira Cass went with this book.

3 out of 5 stars!!
