Red Rising

I have two words for the book Red Rising – Absolutely amazing. Red Rising is the first book in the trilogy of the same name by Pierce Brown. This book follows a young man named Darrow who is a helldiver on planet Mars. In this book the people are split up into different colours – red, blue, green, pink, gold etc. etc. Darrow is a red. He is married to the love of his life Eo, and is completely happy with how his life is, he likes being a helldiver and doesn't see his life being anything different. Eo on the other hand sees the reds as slaves and yearns for something more.

Red rising being the first of the trilogy has a bit of scene setting and word explanation that has to happen before you get into the good things, so don’t put it down. There is love, betrayal, pain, plot twists, amazingly written action scenes and an amazing ending. I couldn’t put this book down, not even when I had to walk to my university. I love how this book follows a male main character and that the author didn’t hold back when it came to action or language. Red Rising is an adult dystopian novel.

I really enjoyed this book, and fell in love with the characters. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes dystopian style books, or anyone who is looking for something new to read.

I can’t wait to dive head first into the next book in the trilogy – Golden Son.
