Genre Young Adult Paranormal Romance

The Cruel Prince meets Ninth House in this dangerously romantic dark academia fantasy, where a lost heiress must infiltrate an arcane society and live with the vampire she suspects killed her family and kidnapped her sister. It began long before my time, but something has always hunted our family.

Orphaned heiress Kidan Adane grew up far from the arcane society she was born into, where human bloodlines gain power through vampire companionship. When her sister, June, disappears, Kidan is convinced a vampire stole her, the very vampire bound to their family, the cruel yet captivating Susenyos Sagad.

To find June, Kidan must infiltrate the elite Uxlay University — where students study to ensurepeaceful coexistence between humans and vampires and inherit their family legacies. Kidan must survive living with Susenyos — even as he does everything he can to drive her away. It doesn’t matter that Susenyos’s wickedness speaks to Kidan’s own violent nature and tempts her to surrender to a life of darkness. She must find her sister and kill Susenyos at all costs.

When a murder mirroring June’s disappearance shakes Uxlay, Kidan sinks further into the ruthless underworld of vampires, risking her very soul. There she discovers a centuries - old threat — and June could be at the center of it. To save her sister, Kidan must bring Uxlay to its knees and either break free from the horrors of her own actions or embrace the dark entanglements of love — and the blood it requires.

Review
As someone who doesn't usually pick up middle grade books, I am glad I gave this one a shot. Maya our main character loves to cook and can't wait to spend her summer at a culinary camp, but when the buses are mixed up she ends up at a vampire camp instead and chaos ensues. Even with their differences of human to vampire Maya is able to overcome and make friends for the first time, it is incredibly wholesome. The story and the illustrations are beautiful and perfect for any age. I would like to Thank TBR Tours, Violet Chan Karim, and Netgalley for a copy of the book for review and blog tour purposes.

Review

If you have read A Good Girls Guide to Murder and Five Survive by Holly Jackson, you know what a ride you are in for! This was fantastic, I had no idea where it was going the entire time and was completely invested until the very last sentence. We open up to a film crew filming a documentary of the disappearance of Rachel Price. Bel is a stubborn, hard headed main character who is the daughter of Rachel Price. But when Bel runs into Rachel stumbling back into her life, 16 years after they disappeared, everything that Bel knows and loves is completely flipped upside down. The Reappearance of Rachel Price takes a deep dive into the skeletons in the closets of a family, and makes you question who you can trust.

The conclusion of this story was mind blowing and whiplash inducing. There is no way to guess what was going to happen. I loved every moment of this book, and will always pick up anything that Holly Jackson writes!

Genre YA Dystopian
Rep - Korean, Asian

In a world of constant winter, only the citizens of the climate-controlled city of Snowglobe can escape the bitter cold—but this perfect society is hiding dark and dangerous secrets within its frozen heart. A groundbreaking Korean novel translated into English for the first time!
“The Hunger Games meets Squid Game in Soyoung Park’s dystopian thriller Snowglobe” –Entertainment Weekly
Enclosed under a vast dome, Snowglobe is the last place on Earth that’s warm. Outside Snowglobe is a frozen wasteland, and every day, citizens face the icy world to get to their jobs at the power plant, where they produce the energy Snowglobe needs. Their only solace comes in the form of twenty-four-hour television programming streamed directly from the domed city.

The residents of Snowglobe have everything: fame, fortune, and above all, safety from the desolation outside their walls. In exchange, their lives are broadcast to the less fortunate outside, who watch eagerly, hoping for the chance to one day become actors themselves.

Chobahm lives for the time she spends watching the shows produced inside Snowglobe. Her favorite? Goh Around, starring Goh Haeri, Snowglobe’s biggest star—and, it turns out, the key to getting Chobahm her dream life.

Because Haeri is dead, and Chobahm has been chosen to take her place. Only, life inside Snowglobe is nothing like what you see on television. Reality is a lie, and truth seems to be forever out of reach.

Translated for the first time into English from the original Korean, Snowglobe is a groundbreaking exploration of personal identity, and the future of the world as we know it. It is the winner of the Changbi X Kakaopage Young Adult Novel Award.

Content Warning: torture, murder, forced work, socioeconomic inequality

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5
Top THREE Reasons to Read Snowglobe

1 - Representation The representation of Korean and Asian cultures, there are not many books you find like this one that will represent that part of the worlds and those groups of people.

2 - Nostalgia - The nostalgia of 2015 dystopian books. If you like me and the rest of the bookworms read and loved the Hunger Games when it first came out, you will love snowglobe. It gives you that nostalgic feeling that sometimes we crave in our books.

3 - Unpredictable - Twists and turns that give you whiplash. It is crazy to think that global warming could put the world in a perpetual winter with temperatures of -50 and below.

The Jade Chronicles

The Jade Labyrinth (The Jade Chronicles #3)
By Alanna Mackenzie
Genre: Science Fiction/ Fantasy
Age category: Young Adult
Release Date: 12 September, 2023

Blurb:
A meeting. A maze. A perilous journey back to an Empire on the edge of chaos.

Walter Saltanetska, leader of the Jade Rebellion, is nearly ready to return to the heart of the AI-ruled Empire that has branded him a treasonous fugitive. His mandate is clear: to reprogram the AI Masters before their earth-destroying habits spiral out of control.

First, he must brave gruelling training in a land fraught with danger—rugged mountains haunted by spirits, a parched desert patrolled by watchful drones, and a labyrinthine cave guarded by armed robots. As his physical, mental, and magical abilities are tested by harrowing encounters, Walter must work to resist forces that threaten to destabilize his mission.

The biggest threat he faces is not one he encounters along the course of his journey, but one that originates within him. Walter returns to the Empire’s capital in a mind-altering disguise that proves to be a double-edged sword. Drawing him closer to a soul mate who rekindles his admiration for the AI Masters, it also distances Walter from the human emotions that sparked his desire to join the Rebellion. In his final showdown with the AI Masters, Walter must keep his mind under control, or risk jeopardizing the mission that he and his allies are counting on to reverse a looming tidal wave of destruction.

The thrilling third installment in The Jade Chronicles, The Jade Labyrinth weaves dystopian science-fiction with high fantasy while exploring an essential subject: the perils and promise of artificial intelligence.

Review for The Jade Rebellion
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5
Review:
The Jade Rebellion is a wonderfully put together and beautifully written young adult science fiction. I enjoyed being able to read something out of my normal Horror filled TBR and dive into something as brilliant as The Jade Rebellion. We follow our main character through a future run by AI and machine. Human's are now second class citizens on their own planet trying to figure out how to save the people he loves and still live in a world bowing down to new masters. If you enjoy science fiction and dystopian do not miss out reading this trilogy, human vs AI.

My review for the other two books in this series are on my goodreads!
